Casa Rosa Art Courses

Forthcoming dates

Spring and Autumn

We organise art courses twice a year or more often if there is demand. Artists take over at Casa Rosa. These tend to be in March and then again in October but dates may vary. Contact Rosie for details.

Wildflower heaven

Join us for art and culture in the Axarquía, when we open the art studio at Casa Rosa for artists to make free with the paint and for tutors to come and teach a week of art in their style. Casa Rosa and its cottages nestling among flower-filled gardens and patios, set comfortably in the Andalucía landscape, is an ideal creative venue.

Week one, the untutored week at Casa Rosa, offers freedom to paint and draw undisturbed, an artistic retreat, with delicious, healthy meals of local produce, all in one of the most delightful, comfy, luxurious houses in southern Spain. Without a tutor, you will be liberated to be as creative and innovative as you feel inclined, options but no distractions, all you need is a suitcase full of motivation.

Week two, offers an exciting artistic programme, with inspiring artists like Antony Williams RP, NEAC. Known for his portraits as well as his landscapes, Antony will be teaching landscape painting in oils. He is a wonderfully talented artist whose work is in demand across the world. Click here to see Antony’s website.

Landscape painting with Antony Williams RP, NEAC

Antony’s course is a rare opportunity to work beside one of the UK’s leading artists. It includes painting landscapes and figures in a landscape while introducing new methods of creative expression. Antony is an experienced painter and tutor with a laid back, inclusive and informal approach.

There will be tutored sessions to suit all. The week is for beginners to the experienced.

From Casa Rosa’s large studio, you look across the valley and up the mountain, while sheltered from sun, wind or rain. Easels, drawing boards and stools etc provided.

Locally Sourced Food and Wine

The art weeks at Casa Rosa have a house party feel. You will eat most meals together with Kate, Rosie and the other students.

Food is an important part of the pleasure of staying at Casa Rosa. Rosie’s approach is to serve warm salads and raw food and to combine that with other very comforting solutions to restore the heart and soul after a day of hard labour at the easel. Rosie has spent many years travelling the world and discovering different gastronomic delights.

What to expect on the art weeks

Enjoy the friendly, supportive, house party atmosphere of art retreats at Casa Rosa. You can come on your own, with friends, family, or partners. You can enjoy the privacy and space of Casa Rosa and you can be part of a group. If you want to spend some quiet time on your own, there are walks through the Andalucia countryside, or up to Periana. The rooms are quiet and extremely comfortable. We endeavour to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as we can.

Artists are free to join in the lessons as much as they like, or to sit some of them out and enjoy Casa Rosa and its surrounding area, the Axarquía.

You will be free to use the tennis court, swimming pool, and table tennis to divert you and the delightful gardens to relax in. Rosie can advise you about walks in the area. You can use the studio at anytime.

In the middle of the week there will be a rest day. Various activities will be on offer such as walking, or visiting the village of Periana. You may prefer to sit by the pool, catch up on a painting project, or read a book.
